Education

Morehouse Parish offers a variety of academic choices from the public school system which includes magnet and charter options to an established private school. We are the home of the Bastrop Rams, the Beekman Tigers (Charter), the Delta Mustangs and the Prairie View Academy Spartans (Private). The Delta Magnet School offers an emphasis on fine and performing arts. Public elementary educational facilities also include the nationally recognized Morehouse Magnet School. The Beekman Charter School is currently the fastest growing school in the parish.

Morehouse Magnet School earned National Blue Ribbon status due to its students performing at very high levels. Only three other schools in the state have this distinction and are able to fly the Blue Ribbon flag proudly.

On any given night, there are sporting activities at one or more of these schools. High schools offer college courses through corporative programs with two local Delta Community College campuses.
